June 14, 2025 In 2019, 2025, Spain
Wednesday 11 June: Carvoeiro to Seville.

We had booked a ride from Carvoeiro to Seville as the trains to Granada were going to take a very long time as were flights. We figured a night in Seville would break the journey and give us a new city to check out.

We’d had good communication from the driver but had to give him directions by phone as he got lost trying to find us.

We knew it was a decent sized Tesla. We also knew it had a decent sized boot. Just as well as our driver tried to pack things totally randomly and it seemed he would not even fit 3 of our 4 bags. With some gentle suggestions he got all 4 bags in and some others loose bits and pieces. I’m thinking this might have been his first rodeo.

The Tesla has an outstanding display screen. We enjoyed the trip along the motorway listening to music, although he didn’t think to change the track so we got 3 lots of Bossa nova.

The medians are lined with Oleanders
It’s very pretty
Lots of horticulture

It’s a pity we didn’t take more notice of what was written on the display screen but eventually, on the outskirts of Seville, Barb said “is he going to the airport?” We checked the screen and sure enough. Oh, he said. “I was confused after yesterday when I went to the airport”. Good thing we were actually go in to Seville and not Gibraltar! Anyway his phone navigation got us to our apartment. We weren’t sure why he wasn’t using the Tesla navigation but probably can’t program it. Hence it was showing yesterday’s trip. But he was also navigating to yesterday’s trip.

Eventually we were dropped off at our apartment. Only an hour later than the estimated arrival time but to be fair, he was a good driver – just a bit dim.

Seville is very leafy. Our apartments are above one another and are lovely. Super spacious. And they come equipped with coffee, tea and snacks.

There are power points everywhere.
There’s a light well to the left that is surrounded in opaque glass and the window opens just a little.
Great bathrooms also.

I didn’t get a photo of the outside but it is on the corner of a busy road. Across and along is a street fulol of cafes. There are narrow streets that allow cool and shade. It’s surprisingly easy to navigate.

We ate at this place later. It wasn’t fabulous but we didn’t get sicker. The place next door would have been a better option.
We headed for the church but it was locked.
This looked interesting.
It’s a huge cathedral place. It was too late to get entry that day and the first entry was at the time our train left the next morning.
This is some museum place across the road from the cathedral place. Definitely need to come back.
There’s a big park across the road. Orange trees everywhere.
There are also cycles and e-scooters everywhere and lots of dedicated lanes.
This crossing is just in front of our building. They have lanes for bikes and a lane for walking.

We had booked dinner for 8.30pm which is not too early by Spanish standards. We sat under an orange tree and Mike nearly got hit on the head with a falling orange that was only walnut size but clearly lacked water. It gave him a bit of a turn!
