July 13, 2023 In 2023, Tenby, Wales
Day 22: July 12th

Well I woke up feeling slightly better but looking one hundred times worse today. As the day has worn on my black eyes have got worse and people definitely look at me funny!

What a sight!

It was cold again this morning but not raining. We had to check out by 10 so made our way to a diner down by the harbour and got some scrambled eggs and tea.

This is a common sight that I just can’t get used to!

Today we headed down to Pembrokeshire which is on the southwestern coast of Wales. It was a 3.5 hour drive so I headed to Aberystwyth for a halfway stop. Not the easiest drive I’ve done as wasn’t feeling 100% still but the scenery through rural Wales is spectacular.
unfortunately the weather wasn’t as good as it could be in Aberystwyth but you could certainly see the attraction and it was beginning to be sunny by the time we’d had a coffee. It was good to get out and stretch our legs.

The pier
Maybe it looks ok when the tide is in! It looked pretty flimsy to me!
Believe it or not this was inside the building on the pier. We were looking for a coffee unfortunately! The decor was wonderfully outrageous and the photo doesn’t do it justice. Can only imagine what it’s like at night time.

Aberystwyth University from the back. It has a very prominent seaside location!

The trip down to Tenby was very picturesque and almost all of the way on B roads that have markings down the middle but can be very narrow. In general the roads are good and the signage is also good but sometimes all signs seem to point to the same numbered road, which can be stressful. I only had to go round one roundabout more than a complete revolution so that’s something!
Tenby is a walled coastal town that is very pretty. We are staying at the Sunnybank Guesthouse which is a BnB. It is lovely and it was sunny when we arrived. In fact it was a lovely afternoon for a walk down to the sea side. We have checked out 3 of the town’s beaches which are all within an easy walk and all were well patronised with lots of (hardy) people in the water.
We ate at a nearby tapas place that was nice and good value. I am liking Tenby a lot.

The Sunnybank Guesthouse. Our room is the one with the bay window on the first floor – with the yellow chairs.

This was a surprise

This beach is further around the corner
The streets are cute. This is one of the wider streets.
The Tenby town wall. I’m not entirely sure what is behind there but will check it out in the morning 🤗
