A minivan collected us at 8pm and we had another circuitous (but safe) journey around the city, picking up people from 2 other hotels. There was a group of 8 loud Americans and a young Italian (I think) couple. We got to the theatre by about 8.45 and were ushered to seats not far from the stage. The theatre is at the back of a cafe and the front part had people just dining. They would be able to hear the music but couldn’t see the show.
We had breads to start and small canapés. Then you choose each course from a set menu with a selection of 4 choices for each course. We both ordered steak for our main but I ordered the crab with potato entree and a Jen had the salmon. They just keep refilling your wine and water glasses. We had ordered dessert but wished we hadn’t as both entree and main were large. Jen couldn’t eat much of her chocolate dessert as it was too rich. The Argentinians seem to have a sweet tooth which is strange as, on the whole, they seem to be pretty trim and there are not that many people that you would describe as over weight.
The show began soon after coffee was served and it lasted an hour with no interval.
The stage is split with the orchestra/ band elevated above and behind the main stage. The company of dancers essentially performed routines from each significant decade between the late 1800s through to modern day with costumes to match.
Some of the routines are very clever and the costumes are stunning.
There are also 2 singers that perform either individually or together between routines to allow time for costume changes. It was all quite spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed the show. We were also very glad to find that they sell a DVD of the entire show.
Jen videoed some of the dances on her phone. I love the curtain one but they were all fab.
We repeated the journey home in reverse and got back at about 12.45. Another late night with early start to follow.
