We had booked breakfast at Peter Rabbit which is a cafe not far from Rundle Mall, which is the pedestrianised shopping area in the CBD. It had good reviews and seemed a bit quirky.

Well it’s certainly quirky and well worth a visit. No evidence of any rabbits except for a small statue inside but it has lots of garden feel a la Mr McGregor.

Mike and I had chilli scrambled eggs with mushrooms and I had to scrape off some of the chilli as it was so hot! That’s saying something for me!

After breakfast we went our various ways. Mike and I went back to the shops to exchange a nightie I bought yesterday for a different size. Then we headed along the road for a visit to the botanical gardens.
The route takes you past a lot of the University of Adelaide campus which has a variety of building styles. It’s pretty cool really.

We passed a number of buildings with large signs on the side saying Polites. All of them seemed to be massage parlours but I’m struggling to make the connection.

Aunty google tells me that Constantine Polites was Adelaide’s most successful property tycoon and he set about erecting signage to advertise his ownership. Not sure if his ownership is also related to the massage parlours!
We have been to the gardens before but enjoyed the revisit although it was pretty hot. The Adelaide Fringe festival is on soon so there were parts of the gardens roped off for different events and large speakers and so forth which interfered with my appreciation of the gardens, however I shall refrain from complaining 🤪.

We stopped and had cold cokes for a while and then enjoyed looking around the museum of economic botany, which was wonderfully air conditioned. Evidently it’s the only museum of its type in the world.

We were not up for walking back as it was just too hot so got an Uber. I’ve spent the afternoon catching up with work emails and can hopefully forget about that for the next day or so.
Steve and Fiona were keen to try a restaurant in town tonight but it’s apparently full so we’ll convene on the terrace for drinks at 6 and then eat here again. Mike and I will be more than happy with that as our meals were totally yum last night.
