We had agreed that Fiona and Steve would selections the breakfast location for today. Not that we didn’t enjoy the offering at the Alba – we just thought it would be nice to see more of the city.
We met downstairs at 9 and got an Uber down to the selected cafe which overlooks the Torrens River. It’s another very hot day and was already in the low 30s by the time we got there. It was closed. So was the cafe next to it.

So we walked up the hill past the University and back to the art gallery. We knew that had a cafe. it was closed but not all was lost.

The art gallery opened at 10am. It doesn’t serve breakfast type food though and we weren’t up for a salad.
So we went next door to the museum. Checked their website and yes they do eggs etc. except they didn’t get their delivery so they couldn’t assist. How hard can it be to get brunch?
So we found a cafe called the Let’s Brunch which was just across the road and down a bit. It had reasonable sounding food and prices and there were people there.

The pigeon poo all over the terrace and on the table was a bit off putting though so we moved inside. (The most miserable excuse for a pigeon also came inside briefly but then exited.)
I was so glad I asked for sauce on the side of my avo smash with salmon. The others got meals drenched in artistic squiggles of hollandaise that looked horrendous. It tasted ok though.
After food we found the shops. I was able to exchange the Lululemon tights that JenY and Craig got me for my birthday as they were a few sizes too big. The shop had no hesitation in swapping them over for a smaller size, even though they were bought in Singapore.
Then Mike and I found Adelaide Hatters. Mike loves hats and this shop has heaps. We were looking for sun hats that can scrunch down for travel and still work. We found them. And you can wash them.

We walked back the same way as from the restaurant last night. The fire station is in a very cool building.

They have a real mix of architecture here. A lot of 1970s and 80s yuk and then some older Victorian stuff and some interesting modernist buildings.
I had a fab swim this afternoon. Plenty of space to do loads of laps breaststroke.
Drinks on the terrace again. This time we’d bought Chardonnay from the bottle store around the corner. Much better value.
We actually managed to eat at Alba tonight. It was excellent. The nicest oysters and lamb shank (separate courses) I’ve had. We will probably repeat tomorrow.
